TENT house for contemporary circus

Harvey Cobb, born in 1999, is a British comedian, host, and circus performer. He comes from The 5 Ring Youth Circus in Newcastle upon Tyne and learnt to perform on the streets before receiving further artistic education from Circus Central (Newcastle, UK), Circomedia (Bristol, UK) and Codarts (Rotterdam, Netherlands).

His most noteworthy work includes The Headless Cabaret and Harvey Cobb and The Abundance of Pink Boots. His work onstage combines honest silliness with absurd darkness and blends ludicrous stand up, gangly physical comedy, and an absurd amount of pink rain boots.

In 2021 Harvey hosted the 10th edition of TENT's open stage Back to Base. In his residency here during Maker for a Week, Harvey will explore the audience's relationship with the performer, and ask how their knowledge, experience and expectations can be used to surprise, satisfy, and entertain them.

PINK BOOTS AND AN ALCOHOLIC SOCK PUPPET • 10 - 15 OCT 2022
What do the audience and performer want from each other?

The audience wants to sit back and enjoy whatever is happening on stage. How do you keep them on their toes, ready to play? Maybe, when they’re not quite sure what they’re seeing whether they’re watching a show go terribly wrong or watching a carefully constructed piece? As Maker for a Week, Harvey plays with the expectations that the audience has of a circus piece, of a person who calls himself an artist, of Pink Boots. He examines the mutual agreements and expectations between audience and performer to surprise, confuse, satisfy, and entertain them.
