I am Maaike van Langen, also known as Maaike Muis. And in 2004 I fell in love with contemporary circus through the performance of Les Arts Sauts at the Summer of Antwerp. Since then, I have been working hard to give circus in the Netherlands a boost and with success: in 2010, I founded Circusstad Festival.
There I have been artistic director until 2021. After twelve years of wonderful festivals, talent development programmes, circus playgrounds and many wonderful moments with artists and audiences, I thought it was time for new adventures.
Because apart from a very big heart for circus, I also have a huge weakness for radio, music, voices, and podcasts. Since 2022 I am (next to host/moderator and voice-over, two other types of work that are right up my alley) also a podcaster.
And for TENT this summer/autumn I can combine my circus love and knowledge and my podcast making itch in a six-part series about the 'makers for a week'. I'm really looking forward to it.
